The Regional BA challenge was a simulation of a flat fire with persons trapped over two floors.

Five teams entered the challenge, including two teams from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and two teams from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Representing Humberside Fire and Rescue Service was a team from Peaks Lane Fire Station; Stuart MacFarlane, Malcolm Isted, David Scott, Nicholas Kingett and Joshua Fowler. The day had been organised by Watch Manager Mark Robinson.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Phil Shillito said, “I would just like to say thank you and well done to all involved in coordinating the BA challenge, and it’s fair to say that Mark did an outstanding job organising this contest.

“Peaks Lane came to the event having never experienced anything like this before and were simply brilliant: calm, collected and very thorough.”

The BA Challenge results:

Best Fire Ground – Humberside Fire and Rescue Service

Best Incident Command – West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

Best Entry Control – West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

Best BA – South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

Best Overall team – West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

It was overall an outstanding day that showed true team work, dedication and commitment. The team will be representing Humberside Fire and Rescue in the National BA Challenge too in October 2018, and we wish them the best of luck.

Well done to all that took part!
