Tackling youth unemployment in North Lincolnshire

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) are recruiting unemployed young people to take part in a 12 week Prince’s Trust course to learn new skills and improve their confidence and motivation.

The Prince’s Trust Team programme will be based in Scunthorpe and will help to tackle youth unemployment in the area. The course will help unemployed 16-25 year olds develop the skills and confidence needed to move into further education, more training or employment following the programme.

Young people will get involved in team building activities, a week long residential trip, a community project and two weeks of work experience during the course. They will also get advice on how to write CVs as well as gaining nationally recognised qualifications.

Rachael Smith, HFRS Education & Development Centre Manager, outlined the benefits of the course:

“Too many young people feel they don’t have enough skills and feel that they’ll never amount to anything. The Team programme really does help them to turn their lives around, helping them into work, education or training.”

Humberside Fire & Rescue Service are now recruiting for the 2018 Team Programme.

Selection days will be held on 25 and 26 September 2018 at Scunthorpe Fire Station. Doors will be open from 1.00pm until 4.00pm.
