One in six properties in England is at risk of flooding. This is only going to increase with a changing climate.

Many people think that flooding will never happen to them – but it could. The winter of 2013 to 2014 was the wettest in England for nearly 250 years and around 6,000 properties flooded which included those affected by the tidal surge in the River Humber and down the East Coast.

There are 3 simple steps you can take to help protect your property from flooding:

1. Use the Environment Agency’s maps to find out if you are at risk from flooding.

2. Sign up for free flood warnings for your area.

3. Prepare a personal flood plan.
