At 6.06am this morning Humberside Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire at a property on Beverley Road in Hull.

Shortly after the arrival of three appliances, an explosion occurred within the property. Two firefighters were checked by paramedics at the scene, while a further two were conveyed to hospital suffering minor injuries. A man with serious injuries was brought out of the property by firefighters. He was conveyed to Hull Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

Beverley Road was closed for some time between Queens Road and Clough Road. It has since been re-opened.

Fire Investigation Officers are now working closely with Humberside Police and representatives from gas providers to ascertain the cause and origin of the fire.
