    Smoke alarm alerts woman to fire

    A fire broke out in the kitchen of a property in Kingfisher Close, Barton today (Thursday 12 June). The woman who lived in the property was upstairs when the smoke alarm sounded and alerted her to the fire. She was able to extinguish it prior to the arrival of fire crews.

    The Ark Project - flood preparation and response centre

The tidal surge of December 2013, which first affected the East Yorkshire coast, was the highest ever recorded tide level in the Humber estuary and led to around 1,100 properties and hundreds of businesses flooding in the area.

Immingham West Fire Station, established in 2000, is crewed by fulltime firefighters. It serves Immingham and the surrounding areas. The area does have housing but is predominately heavy industrial. It is the location of the Lindsey Oil Refinery and also Humberside Airport. Part of Immingham Docks and Port are situated in the station area and the A180 dual carriageway cuts through it.
