It is crewed by wholetime firefighters and is home to vehicle workshops. There is also an admin building on the site which was built in 1963-4. The station area covers a high number of retail premises, old buildings and museums and housing. It also covers Hull Royal Infirmary. The River Hull runs through the station area and the River Humber borders the station to the south.
