    Retained firefighters from Pocklington Fire Station have recently trained to act as first responders in medical emergencies. The six month trial, in partnership with Yorkshire Ambulance Service, will run until September 2013.

    Residents urged to cook safely

    In a bid to reduce cooking related fires, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to think about safety in the kitchen. Cooking fires are the most common cause of house fires in the Humberside area and throughout January 2013 crews attended 34 house fires,over half of which were cooking related.

    Wheelie bin safety warning for residents

    In a bid to prevent people becoming the victim of a deliberate fire, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to be more vigilant when leaving out wheelie bins for collection.


Howden Fire Station, based to the east of the market town, was established in 1964. It is crewed by on-call firefighters who serve Howden and the surrounding areas. The M62 motorway runs through the area and the River Ouse.
