In October it became a legal requirement for all large public buildings to hold a Display Energy Certificate or face a fine.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service have 7 such buildings.
Display Energy Certificates (DECS) are energy performance reports and effect all public authority buildings over 1,000sq metres. Once a building has been graded it receives an A3 certificate and an advisory report, which must be displayed.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has six stations as well as its Headquarters to account for and all need to be graded from A to G for energy performance with A being the most efficient.
Mike Brown Head of Estates at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said " One of our corporate objectives is to reduce the service impact on the environment and I am pleased to be carrying out DECs.
I am particularly pleased with the results and the efforts of those concerned in achieving the collation of data, we will over the next few months scrutinise the advisory reports and put together some action plans for each of the Premises to continue our commitment in reducing our emissions".
DECS are rescored on an annual basis, thereby showing improvements over time. The advisory report will also put forward suggestions and recommendations for future improvements.
Mike added "Rating the performance of our main buildings will not only enable us to rank them but also look at areas where we need to improve"
The Display Energy Reports are available from the Documents Area.
