Joanne Mankel – Support and Education Officer
I work as part of a team in the Support and Education Centre, Calvert Lane. I am responsible for designing and producing educational resources for Operational Crews and Public Safety staff. My background is working with children and young people, adult education and coaching (including careers and employment advisor). Working for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has further developed my knowledge in Public Safety and the vital work that the Service does to keep people safe and prevent emergency incidents. Education is essential and I feel privileged that my role allows me to use my passion for learning and development in the work that I do.
My role allows me to use my imagination and innovation to think outside the box. I am able to draw on the wealth of knowledge and expertise within the Service to develop my work. It is vital that any educational packages and resources that are produced are engaging to enable people to learn about dangers and how to keep themselves safe.
The Support and Education Centre applies a range of targeted strategies to engage with Community groups to promote public safety in a pro-active way. Working in partnership with key stakeholders including the Prince’s Trust and Pearson Education (Edexcel) is central to my role in supporting personal development of individuals and groups throughout Humberside.
