To be a firefighter requires special skills and qualities, not only do you need effective communication skills to deal with the public at safety events and in their homes, you also need to be able to work under pressure as part of a team at operational incidents.
The role of the Fire and Rescue Service has changed incredibly in the last few years as we now face many different challenges. From environmental issues like floods and storms and attending an increasing number of health related incidents. We therefore expect our firefighters to be even more adaptable than ever before.

You must be physically capable of meeting the demands of the work and be aged 18 years or over, as at 1 September 2017. You must also be available for the key stages in the process as follows and you must be available to attend on one day within each stage:
9 – 17 May 2017 – Firefighter practical tests
5 – 9 June 2017 – Interviews
3 – 14 July 2017 – Medicals
